Description:Â Working with beginning-level learners can feel both exciting and intimidating, especially for new volunteers. Students may have limited literacy skills, emerging English proficiency, interrupted formal education, or varying comfort levels with classroom participation.
In this webinar, we’ll explore practical strategies for supporting learners in low-level ABE and ESL classrooms. Participants will learn how to build confidence, scaffold instruction, communicate clearly, and create a welcoming learning environment. We’ll also discuss common challenges and simple techniques that help volunteers support student success without feeling overwhelmed.
Please note that you may be asked to participate in discussion groups during the webinar. Please plan to join us from a quiet setting where you can see the PowerPoint slides and use your audio.
CEUs will be emailed to participants after the webinar, typically within 1-2 business days. Please note that if you miss more than 15 minutes of the session, we are unable to issue you CEUs or count your attendance towards a certificate.
