What happens when churches use English language ministry as a way to welcome, serve, and build relationships with immigrants and refugees?
A 2024 article by Dr. Gordon Moulden explores that question through research on church-supported ESL ministries in Canada. “Church-Supported ESL Ministry in Canada: A Look at the Church’s Mission in Action” examines how these ministries are putting faith into action through English language learning, relationships, and service.
The article also considers some of the opportunities and challenges faced by church-based ESL programs and the people who lead and serve in them.
We’re grateful to Dr. Moulden for his work and for including TESOL Ministry in this research. We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to a growing conversation about how churches can effectively use ESL ministry to serve their communities.
